Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – “Nanning is the permanent venue for the China-ASEAN Expo, facing Southeast Asia, backed by Southwest China, and bordering Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao to the east; Macao’s overseas Chinese community has close ties with ASEAN countries. We can work together to explore the ASEAN market,” said Liu Yiliang, a National People’s Congress deputy, vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and permanent president of the Macao Returned Overseas Chinese Association, during his visit to Nanning.

From June 11 to 14, a delegation of 28 representatives from Macao’s overseas Chinese community, led by Liu Yiliang, visited Guangxi, touring the Guangxi Nationalities Museum, Nanning’s Sanjie Liangxiang (Three Streets and Two Alleys), the China-ASEAN Specialty Commodities Gathering Center, and the China-Singapore Nanning International Logistics Park.

During his visit to Nanning, Liu Yiliang stated that Macao is a bridge for economic and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, a node on the Maritime Silk Road, and rich in overseas Chinese resources. He hoped that Macao’s overseas Chinese community would leverage its advantages to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Nanning’s overseas Chinese community. Nanning’s famous and high-quality products can reach the world through Macao’s expos.

Liu Yiliang stated that Macao is developing a diversified industrial structure, encompassing the "1+4" model, including health, cultural tourism and conventions, modern finance, and modern technology. Nanning, on the other hand, possesses abundant resources of traditional Chinese medicine, with over 600 varieties already discovered. Macao and Nanning could collaborate in the health industry.

Zhang Ziying, Standing Committee Member of the Nanning Municipal Party Committee, Minister of the United Front Work Department, and Vice Mayor, briefed Liu Yiliang and his delegation on Nanning's economic development. She noted that Nanning, adjacent to Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, has long maintained close ties and cooperation with Macao in trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges. In recent years, Nanning has fully leveraged its rich overseas Chinese resources, hosting a series of events such as the "Overseas Chinese Culture Festival," "Overseas Chinese Meets Nanning," and "Journey to the Hometown of Guangxi," gathering the hearts and efforts of overseas Chinese.

Zhang Ziying stated that in the future, Nanning will further actively guide the overseas Chinese community in the Greater Bay Area to participate in local development and construction, attracting more overseas Chinese to enhance Nanning's industrial competitiveness. This will contribute to Nanning's accelerated development into an international metropolis open to ASEAN cooperation, and help Guangxi become a convenient market for domestic and international dual circulation and an important strategic hinterland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
