Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The second Zhejiang Province "Foreign-Related Commercial Mediation Publicity Month" was launched in Hangzhou on the 7th. At the event, the Zhejiang Provincial International Commercial Legal Service Center and the Singapore International Mediation Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanding, agreeing to deepen cooperation in areas such as cross-border commercial mediation and intellectual property dispute resolution.

Zhejiang is a major foreign trade province. With increasingly close international economic and trade ties, strengthening cross-border cooperation in dispute resolution has become a shared aspiration.

"As of 2024, nearly 2,000 cooperative projects have been implemented in Zhejiang through Singapore, and over 650 Zhejiang enterprises have invested in and established overseas companies in Singapore," said Quan Huimin, CEO of the Singapore International Mediation Centre. He added that this signing will facilitate the exchange and connection of cross-border commercial mediation cases between the two regions, and the center will provide Zhejiang enterprises with professional legal services and diversified dispute resolution resources for overseas expansion.

He believes that compared to litigation and arbitration, which focus more on past facts, mediation focuses on resolving current disputes and continuing future cooperation, which aligns better with the Eastern wisdom of "harmony is precious."

It is reported that Zhejiang Province previously signed a "Cross-border Commercial Mediation Cooperation Agreement" with the Hong Kong International Mediation Centre, establishing a joint mediation and resource-sharing mechanism. Huang Juan, an expert from the Hong Kong International Mediation Centre, stated that Hong Kong can connect with mainland judicial resources and align with international rules, and hopes to form closer cooperation with Zhejiang in areas such as professional talent training in the future.

Chen Jianzhong, Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Council for the Promotion of International Trade, stated that the next step will be to further deepen cross-regional cooperation with mediation organizations in Singapore and other regions to provide more efficient and convenient commercial legal services for Chinese and foreign enterprises.
