Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Yunnan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational Technical College announced on the 14th that its independently developed HY series UAV rotor engines (hereinafter referred to as engines), jointly developed with enterprises, have recently been officially unveiled. This engine breaks the foreign technological monopoly, achieving complete domestic production and adapting to high-altitude environments, marking a historic breakthrough for Yunnan in the core power field for UAVs.
The engines unveiled include two core products: the 20kW-class HY102F dual-rotor engine and the 30kW-class HY231F single-rotor engine. Their performance reaches international advanced levels, with a volume only one-third that of traditional piston engines, a weight reduction of approximately 40%, and a power-to-weight ratio more than twice that of comparable piston engines. The engines can operate stably under complex weather conditions at high altitudes, increasing UAV endurance by over 30%, with a maximum flight time of 13 to 15 hours.

It is reported that the engine, developed by the research and development team over three years and through five rounds of prototype iterations, overcame numerous technical challenges, including gas sealing technology, special materials, high-efficiency combustion, and ECU electronic control. It is widely adaptable to fixed-wing UAVs, unmanned helicopters, and light sport aircraft, covering multiple application scenarios such as power line inspection, forest fire fighting, oil and gas pipeline monitoring, emergency rescue, and low-altitude logistics.
Shen Tao, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Yunnan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational Technical College, stated that as the first school-enterprise consortium in Yunnan and the second in the country to master the core technology of UAV rotor engines and achieve industrialization, the college will continue to deepen the integration of industry and education, jointly build an aviation power research and development center with enterprises, expand the scale of professional talent training, and conduct application testing based on Yunnan's unique scenarios to contribute to the development of the province's low-altitude economy.
