According to a report from Kunming Customs on the 25th, Yunnan's imports and exports to ASEAN reached 132.08 billion yuan (RMB) in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 20.8%, setting a new historical record.
Yunnan borders Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos, serving as China's window and gateway to South Asia and Southeast Asia. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Yunnan's imports and exports reached 1.39 trillion yuan, a 40.8% increase compared to the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Currently, Yunnan has trade relations with 193 countries and regions, with imports and exports to 146 of them showing growth.
In 2025, Yunnan's goods trade imports and exports reached 273.74 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.2%, 6.4 percentage points faster than the national average. Among them, imports and exports to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 235.86 billion yuan, an increase of 16.1%; imports and exports to the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa increased by 3.7%, 51.1%, and 75.6% respectively, accounting for 33.4% of Yunnan's total imports and exports, indicating a more diversified trading partnership. In 2025, the cross-border freight volume of the China-Laos Railway increased by 13.9%, and the value increased by 42.9%. Yunnan became the first pilot province in China to implement smart procurement of Lao cement through a land port. Nine new categories of high-quality agricultural and food products from neighboring countries were granted market access. The number of enterprises in Yunnan with import and export records reached 7,263, an increase of 21.7%.
Yunnan took the lead nationwide in implementing batch inspection (quarantine) reform. In 2025, agricultural product exports reached 19.79 billion yuan, accounting for 21% of total exports, ranking first in the central and western regions. Among them, fresh-cut flowers and coffee exports ranked first in the country, while vegetable and fruit exports ranked third. Exports of photovoltaic products, lithium batteries, and other "new three" products reached 3.35 billion yuan, an increase of 1.4 times. Tin ingot exports reached 5.04 billion yuan, an increase of 1.4 times, demonstrating the continued release of foreign trade vitality. (End)
