Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh recently signed Decision No. 173/QĐ-TTg, formally approving the "Strategy for the International Communication and Promotion of Vietnam's National Image 2026-2030, with a Vision to 2045," outlining the direction and path for Vietnam's international national image communication in the future.

The core objective of this strategy is to enhance the international community's awareness, goodwill, and trust in Vietnam, its people, culture, and development achievements through more proactive, comprehensive, unified, and efficient communication methods, highlighting Vietnam's position, credibility, and comprehensive competitiveness on the regional and global stage; while simultaneously mitigating the impact of negative information, creating a favorable environment for expanding international cooperation, attracting investment, boosting tourism, promoting socio-economic development, and strengthening national defense and security.

The strategy clearly positions Vietnam as a symbol of "development, benevolence, innovation, and peace," establishing its national image as a developed, benevolent, innovative, responsible, and trustworthy nation, becoming a model of peace, stability, national unity, and regional and global cooperation.

The strategy emphasizes the need for a fundamental shift in mindset and a high degree of unity in action, treating the external communication of the national image as a comprehensive political, diplomatic, cultural, and economic task. It calls for collaborative efforts from various ministries, local governments, media, businesses, the public, and overseas Vietnamese communities to form a unified force.

In terms of communication philosophy, the focus will shift from one-way propaganda to the coordinated development of national image, national brand, and soft power. With value resonance as the core, it will strengthen multi-dimensional and credible communication, balancing the attractiveness and creativity of content while precisely adapting to the needs of different markets and audiences.

A key innovation of this strategy is the first explicit proposal to systematically construct a communication content and information system. This includes: defining the core pillars of Vietnam's national image; establishing a clearly structured and focused communication information framework; flexibly adjusting communication priorities based on the stage of communication, target market, and audience differences; deeply exploring "Vietnam stories"; conveying the national image through typical figures, events, products, and practical cases; and gradually establishing a unified Vietnamese national image identification system.

The strategy emphasizes that human resources and capacity building are crucial supports, focusing on cultivating a professional team with international communication capabilities, digital skills, and multilingual expertise to adapt to changes in the global communication environment and the evolving needs of communication in this new phase. Simultaneously, it will enhance cross-departmental collaboration, broadly leverage social resources, and establish sound monitoring, evaluation, and dynamic adjustment mechanisms to ensure the strategy's effective implementation.
