Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Singapore's CSNC company's US$12 million cashew processing plant project in Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia, has been completed and is expected to officially commence production in early 2025.

According to Veng Silo, President of the Cambodian Cashew Association, the plant is currently only undergoing equipment and material installation, and the project is progressing smoothly. The plant has a daily processing capacity of 40 tons of cashews, with an annual processing capacity of 12,000 tons, primarily for export to China and Europe.

Veng Silo stated that the plant covers 14 hectares and has created nearly 200 jobs for the local community.

It is understood that there are currently about 40 cashew processing plants in Cambodia, but based on market demand, Cambodia still needs to add about 30 more to meet actual production needs and provide more employment opportunities.

Currently, Cambodia has 700,000 hectares of cashew orchards, with an average yield of approximately 58 tons per hectare. According to statistics from the Cambodian Cashew Association, there are currently 10 provinces in Cambodia engaged in cashew cultivation: Kampong Thom, Ratanakiri, Kampong Cham, Mondulkiri, Tbong Khmum, Stung Treng, Siem Reap, Kratie, Kampong Chhnang, and Preah Vihear.
