Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The first event of the 2026 Singapore Chingay Parade kicked off spectacularly on Friday, February 27th, at the F1 Pit Building. As a major annual celebration in Singapore, tickets for the first performance sold out in advance, with nearly 10,000 spectators gathering to enjoy the 90-minute visual and auditory feast that combined dance, a parade of floats, and a fireworks display.
Although there were brief showers in the morning, the weather cleared up in the afternoon, with warm sunshine adding to the pleasant atmosphere of the celebration. With the sound of firecrackers, the Chingay Parade officially began, and cheers erupted throughout the venue, quickly building to a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere.
Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong rode on a themed float, entering the venue alongside the performers. This was his second time attending the celebration as Prime Minister. On the float, the Prime Minister extended New Year's greetings to the crowd and the nation: "Happy New Year, may all your wishes come true, and may the Year of the Horse bring you great fortune!" As soon as he finished speaking, colorful fireworks lit up the night sky, the dazzling lights mingling with the cheers of the crowd, bringing the atmosphere to a climax.
The Chingay Parade, which began in 1973, is Singapore's largest and most iconic multicultural celebration, consistently embodying cultural exchange and New Year's hopes across various ethnic groups. This year's celebration, with "Wish" as its core theme, conveyed the warm message that "every wish deserves to be fulfilled" and expressed the beautiful hope that all participants' dreams would come true.
