
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Hong Kong Customs announced on the 7th that it had cracked a drug trafficking case involving luggage at Hong Kong International Airport on the 6th, seizing approximately 30 kilograms of suspected ketamine, 9 boxes of cigarettes suspected of containing nicotine, and 4 suspected alternative smoking products, with an estimated market value of approximately HK$12 million.
Hong Kong Customs stated that a 37-year-old male passenger arrived in Hong Kong from Amsterdam, Netherlands on the 6th. During customs clearance, Hong Kong Customs officers discovered the suspected ketamine and suspected nicotine-containing cigarettes in his two checked bags, and the suspected alternative smoking products in his carry-on luggage. He was immediately arrested. The case is still under investigation.
Hong Kong Customs indicated that it will continue to strengthen its efforts to combat drug trafficking activities based on intelligence analysis, and urged the public to be vigilant, not to participate in drug trafficking activities for monetary gain, not to accept any employment or entrustment to transport controlled items in or out of Hong Kong, and not to rashly assist others in transporting items without confirming their properties.
