Hong Kong issues black rainstorm warning twice in one week

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Affected by an active southwest monsoon, Hong Kong experienced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on the morning of July 2nd. The Hong Kong Observatory issued the highest level rainstorm warning signal – Black Rainstorm Warning Signal – at 9:45 AM that day. This was the second time Hong Kong had issued this signal within a week; the previous time was on the morning of July 29th, when Hong Kong was affected by a broad low-pressure trough and experienced heavy rainfall.

  Around 7 AM on July 2nd, thunder rumbled and heavy rain fell frequently in the Shau Kei Wan area of ​​Hong Kong's Eastern District. During breaks in the downpour, reporters observed that the sky was overcast, daytime was like night, and there were few pedestrians on the streets.

  The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Education Bureau announced that all schools in Hong Kong would be closed on the afternoon of July 2nd. Schools that were already in session should continue classes until dismissal time, and students should only be allowed to return home when it is safe to do so.

  The Hong Kong Observatory stated that many areas of Hong Kong recorded more than 50 mm of rainfall that morning, with some areas of Kowloon and Sai Kung District receiving more than 70 mm. Due to severe road flooding and inclement weather conditions, residents are advised to remain in safe locations.
