Hong Kong sees a surge in visitors during the Lunar New Year holiday, with over one million tourists visiting the city.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that a large number of mainland tourists visited Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year holiday. Data from the Hong Kong Immigration Department shows that from January 15th (the 28th day of the twelfth lunar month) to January 20th (the fourth day of the first lunar month), the total number of visitors to Hong Kong exceeded 1.16 million, of which over 980,000 were mainland tourists, accounting for approximately 84%.

  This year's Lunar New Year holiday in mainland China lasted nine days, and Hong Kong's various ports welcomed a large influx of mainland tourists. Data from the Hong Kong Immigration Department shows that the number of mainland visitors to Hong Kong from January 15th to 20th were 142,400, 84,300, 121,900, 212,200, 210,700, and 209,000 respectively.

  Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po previously stated in his blog that the number of mainland visitors to Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year holiday was expected to reach 1.43 million, with the average daily visitor count increasing by approximately 6% year-on-year.
