Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Members of the 7th Legislative Council and the newly elected members of the 8th Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) met with the media on the ground floor lobby of the Legislative Council Complex on the 9th, with members from different sectors taking turns to speak. This was the first time since the establishment of the HKSAR Legislative Council that incumbent and newly elected members had appeared together.

Legislative Council President Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen stated that this Legislative Council election further demonstrated the positive situation of "patriots governing Hong Kong," and was of great significance for promoting in-depth reforms and achieving better development. The new Legislative Council will have 50 re-elected members and 40 new faces. He encouraged new and outgoing members to communicate and exchange ideas more, ensuring the passing of the torch.

Leung Kwan-yuen once again thanked all members of the 7th Legislative Council for their dedication and hard work for the country and Hong Kong over the past four years, offering valuable suggestions and achieving remarkable results. He also hoped that the new members would inject more vitality into Hong Kong, work hand in hand with the HKSAR government to promote reforms, handle the aftermath of the fire effectively, and actively promote Hong Kong's development to a higher level, better integrating into and serving the overall development of the country, benefiting Hong Kong and contributing to the nation.

In his speech, Legislative Council member Chan Hak-kan, who was successfully re-elected in the Northeast New Territories constituency, mentioned that after the fire at Hung Fook Court in Tai Po, he and his team contacted over 1,000 affected households and learned that their primary concern was how to rebuild their homes. He hoped that the new Legislative Council could work together to find suitable places for the victims to rebuild as soon as possible, while simultaneously advancing the review of the system.

Chuang Ka-bun, the newly elected member of the Election Committee, believes that Hong Kong is currently undergoing economic transformation and must change its previous single-sector economic structure, cultivate emerging industries, and promote diversified economic development. He hopes to leverage his resources and network in the business community to attract more city brands to Hong Kong and revitalize industry development. (End)
