Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On February 12th, a cultural and tourism working meeting and joint promotion conference between Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China and five Vietnamese provinces and municipalities—Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, and Hai Phong—was held in Nanning, Guangxi.
At the meeting, Han Liu, Party Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Department of Culture and Tourism, proposed four cooperation suggestions: strengthening cross-border tourism cooperation, deepening cultural exchanges, promoting border tourism collaboration, and empowering the digitalization of culture and tourism. Representatives from the five Vietnamese provinces and municipalities, based on their respective resource advantages, proposed suggestions including strengthening the development of border tourism products, improving border clearance facilitation, deepening the application of digital technology, jointly building cross-border red tourism routes, and strengthening talent training.
Both sides reached six points of consensus: jointly building a cross-border tourism brand and creating premium routes; jointly constructing a cultural exchange bridge and enhancing the brand of the "China-Vietnam Border Residents' Grand Gathering"; jointly promoting the upgrading of border tourism and optimizing facilitation policies; jointly leveraging AI in cultural tourism and strengthening technical exchanges and talent cultivation; jointly safeguarding tourism market order and protecting the development interests of both sides' cultural tourism markets; and jointly building a benchmark for cross-border cooperation, accelerating the construction of landmark projects such as the China-Vietnam Detian (Ban Gioc) Waterfall Cross-border Tourism Cooperation Zone and the No. 53 Boundary Marker Cultural Square. The meeting also proposed holding the 2027 working conference in Haiphong City, Vietnam.
The joint promotion event included sessions on joint promotion between Guangxi and Vietnam, and joint promotion between Beijing and Guangdong, with rich and engaging content. The thematic promotion session, themed "Mountain Songs Attract Visitors, Cross-border Tourism at the Border," vividly showcased the integration of technology and culture through innovative forms such as AI robot performances and a China-Vietnam Tianqin (a traditional stringed instrument) duet, further translating the consensus on cooperation into market practice.
Lin Lin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, pointed out in his speech at the meeting that the purpose of this promotion conference was to jointly promote border-specific tourism products, promote mutual tourist exchange and market expansion, and to build a new model of tourism cooperation that promotes mutual development between Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Guangxi, and Vietnam.
Liu Ba Mo, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lang Son Province, Vietnam, representing the five provinces and cities of Vietnam, stated in his speech that the five provinces and cities of Vietnam will create a convenient, safe, and friendly environment and are ready to work hand in hand with Chinese partners to achieve sustainable, efficient, long-term, and mutually beneficial tourism development.
During the joint promotion session between Guangxi and Vietnam, both sides innovatively adopted a "one-place-one-promotion" interspersed promotion model, fully presenting three cross-border tourism routes: the "Guangxi + Quang Ninh + Haiphong" sea, land, and air integrated tour; the "Guangxi + Lang Son + Hanoi" border culture tour; and the "Guangxi + Cao Bang + Tuyen Quang" ecological secret tour, intuitively showcasing the unique charm of "one trip, two countries' cultures." The meeting also introduced Guangxi's inbound tourism facilitation policies. Representatives from tourism enterprises in Beijing and Guangdong also gave joint presentations, expressing a strong desire to connect with the Guangxi-Vietnam cross-border tourism market.
A signing ceremony for Sino-Vietnamese cooperation agreements was held at the promotion event. Two travel agencies from Guangxi and two Vietnamese companies signed memorandums of understanding on cultural tourism cooperation, covering areas such as market promotion, mutual tourist exchange, joint route development, and joint marketing. This will help promote cooperation between the two sides into a new stage of project-based and substantive implementation.
After the meeting, the attendees participated in a familiarization tour of Guangxi's cross-border cultural tourism consumption, inspecting the "instant refund" and "flash sales" tax refund services at Nanning MixC Shopping Mall, and experiencing the vitality and potential of Guangxi's cultural tourism consumption environment at Minzu Lake and Zhongshan Road Night Market.
