Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 11th Jimei-Arles International Photography Festival opened in Xiamen on the 29th. This year's festival features 34 exhibitions showcasing approximately 2,500 works from China, Brazil, the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, Mexico, Singapore, and other countries and regions, encompassing photography, video, installation, and multimedia.
Bas Vroege, a Dutch curator and member of the festival's artistic committee, stated that art serves as a bridge connecting culture and society. This festival will bring together local, regional, and international resources to promote creative output and public dialogue.
Exhibiting artist Linarejos Moreno, a Spanish photographer, believes that exhibiting his work abroad is an affirmation of his artistic journey, and this festival will be an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange and dialogue.
“As this photography season explores with its theme of ‘Images of Disobedience,’ it invites us into a space of mutual understanding and recognition, to jointly present a visual narrative composed of multiple voices,” said Linalejos Moreno. Besides exhibiting her work, she also plans to take what she has seen and learned back home, becoming a bridge connecting different cultures.
It is understood that the Jimei-Arles International Photography Festival has a long-standing collaboration with the renowned Arles International Photography Festival in France, continuously showcasing the diversity and new trends in global photographic creation. Over the past decade, the festival has presented more than 300 exhibitions and works by over 700 artists, attracting more than 550,000 visitors.
