  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On March 26, 2026, the 26th Thai-Laos Technical Cooperation Conference was held in Vang Vieng District, Vientiane, Laos. The conference was co-chaired by Mr. Chuva Narinthlangura, Director General of the Thai Agency for International Cooperation (TICA), and Mr. Bounthanonsa Chantara, Director General of the Department of Asia-Pacific and Africa Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and Secretary General of the Thai-Laos Joint Cooperation Committee. Ms. Klonkanee Rachalen, Thai Ambassador to Vientiane, was invited to attend.

  At the conference, both sides fully affirmed the implementation results and phased achievements of the second phase of the Thai-Laos Development Cooperation Plan (2022-2025): To date, 17 cooperation projects under the plan have been successfully completed, 9 projects are expected to be completed in 2026, and another 9 projects will continue to be promoted in the third phase of the cooperation plan (2026-2029). Meanwhile, the meeting reviewed and approved 37 of the 42 new project proposals, focusing on the Mekong Subregion cooperation agenda, including key areas such as "Cooperation on Zero-Burn Crop Production Standards between Thailand and Laos (PM2.5 Emission Reduction)," "Laos Water Quality Monitoring and Policy Formulation Management," and "Laos National Cybersecurity Capacity Building and Operational Preparation."

  During the meeting, the Chinese and Lao delegations also jointly conducted on-site inspections and supervision of several key cooperation projects, including the Muang Phong Community Ecotourism Project, the Dongkhamchang Agricultural Technology College's "Self-Sufficient Economy Concept (SEP)" Sustainable Agricultural Development Learning Center, and the Lao-Thai Friendship Social Development Center in Vientiane Province, promoting project implementation and effectiveness through on-site research.

  It is reported that the 27th Thai-Laos Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Exchange Conference will be hosted by the Thai International Cooperation Agency (TICA) in 2027. Technical cooperation between Thailand and Laos began in 1961 and has now formed seven key areas of cooperation: agriculture, environment, education and sports, public health, trade, industry and tourism, social development and governance, and human resource development. Laos is also one of the five key partner countries in Thailand's development cooperation strategy.
