
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On January 8, 2026, Thai Deputy Foreign Minister Vijayawat Isarabakhti held talks with Evagoras Frionides, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to Thailand. Ambassador Frionides, based in New Delhi, made a special trip to Thailand.

The two sides exchanged in-depth views on deepening bilateral relations between Thailand and Cyprus. Key topics included preparations for the upcoming 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, cooperation arrangements during Cyprus's presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026, and a series of exchange activities planned by Cyprus in Thailand. During the talks, Deputy Foreign Minister Vijayawat Isarabakhti also briefed the Ambassador on the latest developments in the Thai-Cambodian border situation.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to jointly advance the review process of the two documents, the "Agreement on Visa Waiver for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports" and the "Memorandum of Understanding on Establishing a Thailand-Cyprus Bilateral Consultation Mechanism," striving to complete the relevant procedures as soon as possible and solidify the institutional foundation for the development of bilateral relations.
