
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – From December 18th to 20th, 2025, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangkchou paid a working visit to Japan. The visit focused on the all-round development of Thai-Japanese bilateral relations. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on regional peace and stability, the regional situation, and other issues, and discussed cooperation pathways.

On December 18th, Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangkchou held talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi. The two sides focused on specific measures to deepen the Thai-Japanese comprehensive strategic partnership and reached broad consensus: to further enhance bilateral cooperation by promoting the transformation of traditional industries towards sustainable development and deepening cooperation in emerging innovative fields. During the talks, the two foreign ministers also exchanged views on several important regional situations, including the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border, the situation in Myanmar, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and Japan's cooperation with ASEAN. They agreed to strengthen communication and coordination to jointly maintain regional peace and stability.
On December 19th, Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangkchou met with Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi. During the talks, Thailand reiterated its commitment to promoting regional peace based on the principles of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" (FOIP), emphasizing its alignment with ASEAN's "Indo-Pacific Vision" (AOIP). Both sides also identified key areas for strengthening cooperation, pledging to deepen collaboration in the defense industry and security technology sectors, while advancing practical cooperation in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).

During the visit, Foreign Minister Sikazakh Puangkcho also held talks with Ichiro Aizawa, Chairman of the Japan-Thailand Friendship Group, Secretary-General Akihisa Shiozaki, and several members of the Japanese Diet, exchanging in-depth views on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding cooperation in multiple fields, and assessing regional development trends. Furthermore, the Foreign Minister exchanged views with scholars from Japanese research institutions and think tanks on regional security and development issues; and held discussions with senior officials from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren), focusing on Thailand's industrial advantages and exploring ways to further deepen bilateral economic cooperation by guiding Japanese companies to invest in strategic and future industries.
