Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On December 4, 2025, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn announced that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) has approved an increase in the Passenger Service Charge (PSC), also known as the airport tax, levied on international flights departing from six airports under the Airports of Thailand (AOT).
According to a report by the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Bangkok, the fee will increase from 730 baht per person to 1120 baht (approximately US$23 to US$35). The new regulation will be implemented at the six airports starting in early 2026, including Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), Mae Fang Long-Chiang Rai International Airport (CEI), Phuket International Airport (HKT), and Hat Yai International Airport (HDY).
AOT estimates that the six airports handle an average of 35 million passengers annually. The airport tax increase is expected to generate approximately 10 billion baht in revenue annually, which will be used to improve airport services, particularly for the expansion of Suvarnabhumi Airport, including the construction of a new south terminal.
