Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently confirmed that with the complete receding of floodwaters in the southern disaster-stricken areas, travel has largely returned to normal, with smooth passage to destinations and airports, major transportation hubs, and most tourist attractions resuming operations.
TAT Governor Thapane Kittappur expressed her sincere gratitude to tourists and tourism partners for their patience and support during the disaster. She emphasized that once the situation stabilizes, the TAT will assess the overall impact of the disaster on the tourism industry and work with local partners to promote recovery in the affected areas. Going forward, measures such as adjusting market strategies and conducting targeted promotional activities will be implemented to boost tourist confidence and contribute to the local economic recovery.
Transportation in Many Provinces Continues to Improve; Some Facilities Still Under Repair
As repair work progresses, transportation conditions in Hat Yai, Satun, Phatthalung, Narathiwat, Yala, and Pattani provinces continue to improve. Currently, major roads, border checkpoints, and airports in these provinces are open, with only some tourist attractions and secondary routes still under repair.
The situation in Nakhon Si Thammarat and Trang provinces has improved earlier, with all major land, sea, and air transport services now fully back to normal, and most tourist attractions reopened. In Trang province, only some attractions in the Khao Ban Tha mountain range remain temporarily closed for safety reasons. Regarding rail transport, express lines 167/168 and express lines 83/84 still operate via Thong Song station, with connecting bus services.
Popular Destinations: Services Fully Operational, Travel Tips to Note
Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Ranong, Surat Thani (including Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao), and Chumphon provinces remain open and services are fully operational. Sea transport is operating normally, with only occasional timetable adjustments due to weather. Except for Chumphon National Park, which is closed for annual maintenance, all national parks in the region have reopened.
National Transportation Stabilizing, Travelers Advised to Confirm Information in Advance
Currently, airports in southern Thailand are operating normally, with flights running on regular schedules. However, the Tourism Authority of Thailand advises travelers to confirm flight information with airlines in advance to avoid disruptions to their travel plans due to routine adjustments. Sea freight services are operating normally, with only occasional weather-related disruptions; inter-provincial bus routes have fully resumed service in the south. The State Railway of Thailand has made temporary adjustments to some southern routes for maintenance, and affected passengers will receive a full refund.
