Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 2026 Spring Festival travel rush has begun, coinciding with the "longest Spring Festival holiday in history." The deep overlap of migrant worker, family visit, and tourism flows is injecting strong vitality into the air travel market. Shenzhen Airport predicted on February 2nd that during this Spring Festival travel rush, the airport is expected to handle an average of over 195,000 passengers per day, with an average of over 1,250 flights per day, ensuring smooth travel for passengers.
On February 2nd, the first day of the Spring Festival travel rush, Shenzhen Airport was filled with warmth and a strong festive atmosphere. The terminal was decorated with a new theme of "With Dreams as Our Horses, Good Fortune Accompanying Us." Passenger flow in the departure hall increased significantly compared to usual. Passengers carried their luggage, either heading home or embarking on holiday trips, filling the terminal with laughter and joy. At the event, a couplet-themed cultural activity, "Sailing Towards a Prosperous Year," was held concurrently. Calligraphy masters displayed their skills, presenting travelers with exclusive "cultural New Year's gifts." Lively "Dawan Chicken" mascots interacted playfully with children, and the Shenzhen Youth Police Traffic Police Band's Art Vanguard Team, the Shenzhen Airport "Ground Line" Band, and the Music and Dance Association delivered a series of wonderful performances, collectively painting a warm and vibrant picture of the Spring Festival travel rush.

It is understood that the peak travel period for this Spring Festival travel rush is concentrated from February 19th to 25th (the third to ninth day of the Lunar New Year), during which the average daily number of passengers entering and leaving the airport is expected to reach 205,000. The return peak is expected to be on February 22nd and 23rd, with the daily passenger volume expected to approach 210,000, marking the peak of travel.
Thanks to the deep integration of aviation, culture, and tourism, the extended holiday, and favorable entry and exit policies, air travel demand continues to be released. Popular tourist routes such as northern ice and snow tours and southern winter escape tours remain highly sought after, and both outbound and inbound tourism routes will also see peak travel, becoming a major highlight of this Spring Festival air travel rush. To meet the diverse travel needs of passengers, Shenzhen Airport, in conjunction with various airlines, has precisely expanded its route capacity: a new Shenzhen-Tongren route has been launched, and the frequency of flights to Baishan, Shenyang, Harbin, Dali, Wuhan, Taiyuan, and other destinations has been increased, covering key travel destinations in Northeast, Southwest, Central, and North China. For international and regional routes, the focus is on increasing flights to Southeast Asia, providing passengers with more travel options for their vacations.

Ground transportation services have also been upgraded simultaneously, with multiple measures taken to address the "last mile" problem. During the Spring Festival travel rush, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Xiaolan Airport express line officially opened; Shenzhen Airport, in conjunction with Shenzhen Airlines, launched free shuttle express services for international and regional flight passengers from Zhongshan and Jiangmen to Shenzhen Airport (round trip) and from Dongguan to Shenzhen Airport (one way), facilitating travel for residents on the west bank of the Pearl River. In addition, the comprehensive transportation upgrade project for the departure platform of Shenzhen Airport Terminal 3, which started before the festival, has successfully completed its first phase of renovation. To ensure smooth travel during the Spring Festival travel rush, construction on the project was suspended during the period to create a comfortable and smooth travel environment for passengers. (End)
