Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On January 29th, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid released Shenzhen's electricity consumption statistics for 2025. The city's total electricity consumption reached 127.215 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 4.71%. Electricity consumption data across different sectors showed differentiated growth trends, with the tertiary sector and residential electricity consumption steadily increasing. This optimization of the electricity consumption structure vividly reflects Shenzhen's economic progress towards high-quality development.

In terms of electricity consumption structure, in 2025, Shenzhen's secondary industry consumed 58.927 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 2.28%; the tertiary industry consumed 46.732 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 7.24%; and residential electricity consumption reached 21.496 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.20%. The proportions of electricity consumption for the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries and residential consumption were 0.05%, 46.3%, 36.7%, and 16.9%, respectively. As a "barometer" of economic and social operation, these data clearly reflect that Shenzhen's electricity consumption growth is shifting from being driven solely by industry to a dual-engine model of "industry + service industry." Domestic demand is being continuously driven by the service sector and household consumption, the economic structure is constantly optimizing, and consumption vitality is steadily increasing.

The adjustment of industrial electricity consumption structure is a direct testament to Shenzhen's industrial upgrading. Relying on the "electricity-capacity" service, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid has cumulatively supplied over 1.7 million kVA of electricity to BYD Group, fully guaranteeing the company's electricity needs and driving a significant 23.98% year-on-year increase in electricity consumption in Shenzhen's automotive manufacturing industry in 2025, injecting strong momentum into Shenzhen's goal of becoming a "new generation world-class automotive city." Meanwhile, with the continuous optimization of Shenzhen's industrial structure, the electricity demand of specialized and innovative industries such as electric vehicles and semiconductors is rapidly rising. Electricity consumption in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing industry, and instrumentation manufacturing industry continues its good growth trend, increasing by 6.57%, 8.87%, and 9.20% year-on-year in 2025, respectively. In contrast, traditional high-energy-consuming manufacturing is undergoing transformation and adjustment, with electricity consumption decreasing by 3.56% year-on-year, reflecting Shenzhen's firm steps towards green and high-end industrial transformation.

The rapid growth in electricity consumption in the tertiary sector highlights the vitality of Shenzhen's modern service industry and the booming consumer market. In 2025, electricity consumption in Shenzhen's information transmission, software and information technology services industry increased by 27.07% year-on-year, and electricity consumption in the leasing and business services industry increased by 10.68% year-on-year, demonstrating the rapid expansion of modern service industries such as the digital economy, professional services, and business exhibitions. Among them, data center electricity consumption reached 3.454 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 14.92%, accounting for 7.39% of the tertiary sector's electricity consumption and contributing 1.03 percentage points to the growth of tertiary sector electricity consumption, which is highly consistent with the trend of Shenzhen's digital economy development and advanced deployment of computing infrastructure.

The popularization of green travel has also driven a continuous increase in electricity demand. With the "1-kilometer supercharging travel circle" becoming integrated into the lives of Shenzhen residents, the city's charging stations (piles) consumed 6.942 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 16.22%, accounting for 14.85% of the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry, contributing 2.07 percentage points to the growth of electricity consumption in the tertiary industry, becoming an important highlight of green and low-carbon development. In addition, in 2025, electricity consumption in Shenzhen's wholesale and retail industries increased by 20.71% year-on-year, while residential electricity consumption maintained a steady growth of 6.20%, further demonstrating the robust vitality of Shenzhen's consumer market.
