  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Hanoi People's Court in Vietnam recently announced that it will hold a trial on September 8th for the case involving Pham Thai Ha, former Deputy Director of the National Assembly Office, and 28 other defendants from the Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company, on charges of illegal and criminal activities. The charges include "violation of bidding regulations causing serious consequences," "abuse of power and authority in the performance of official duties," and "using power and authority to influence others for personal gain." Those involved include senior corporate executives and several former government officials, and the case involves official conduct across multiple regions and sectors.

  It is understood that a total of 29 defendants are involved in this case, 27 of whom have been prosecuted by the Supreme People's Procuratorate of Vietnam for "violation of bidding regulations causing serious consequences" (under Article 222, Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code). From the perspective of the employers of those involved, the distribution exhibits clear departmental and regional characteristics:

  At the corporate level:** Five defendants are involved with Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company;

  At the local project management department level:** Five from the former Bac Giang Provincial Project Management Committee, three from the former Tuyen Quang Provincial Project Management Committee, six from the Hanoi Project Management Committee, and two from the Quang Ninh Provincial Project Management Committee;

  At the provincial government department level:** Four from the former Vietnam Land Transport Authority are involved.

  The identities and involvement of the remaining two defendants are as follows:

  Nguyen Van Lam, born in 1980, is currently the manager of the Transport Engineering Technology and Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company;

  Bui Thanh Thuan, born in 1980, was formerly the vice chairman of CFTD Innovation Joint Stock Company and is currently the chairman of PHD Investment and Trade Consulting Joint Stock Company. In addition, two defendants were separately charged with specific offenses:

  Le Ou Phet (born 1980), former Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Giang Province and Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang Province, was indicted for "abuse of power and authority in the performance of official duties";

  Pham Thai Ha (born 1976), former Deputy Director of the National Assembly Office and Assistant to the President of the National Assembly, as one of the key figures involved in the case, was indicted for "using his or her authority to exert influence on others for personal gain." (End)
