Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On August 7th, Guangzhou Metro Group organized a media tour to visit the stations of Line 13 Phase II to learn about the construction progress. The Tianhe Park (tentative name) and Zhucun (tentative name) stations both incorporate folk cultural elements, offering a refreshing experience.
According to reports, Metro Line 13 Phase II (Chaoyang-Yuzhu) runs east-west, connecting five administrative districts: Baiyun, Liwan, Yuexiu, Tianhe, and Huangpu. The line is approximately 34 kilometers long and has 23 stations. After completion and opening, it will form a backbone east-west line for the city together with Line 13 Phase I (Yuzhu-Xinsha), improving the convenience of direct access to the city center for passengers in the east and west, and optimizing the operation and service level of the rail network.
The second phase of Metro Line 13 will open this year, with the section from Yuzhu to Tianhe Park. This section is 8.3 kilometers long, and the civil engineering work is currently 98% complete. All four stations and the track area are in the operational testing phase, and trial runs connecting with the first phase of Line 13 (Yuzhu-Xinsha) have begun.
During the trial runs, Line 13 will operate on the "Tianhe Park-Xinsha" route throughout the day. Trains will carry passengers normally on the first phase of Line 13 and unload at Yuzhu Station. The Yuzhu-Tianhe Park section of the second phase will be operated without passengers. During weekday peak hours, 15 trains will be in operation, with a headway of approximately 6 minutes. During weekend peak hours, 14 trains will be in operation, with a headway of approximately 6 minutes.
The entire Line 13 is designed with the core concept of "Guangdong Merchants and Pearl River," with the second phase's cut-and-cover stations featuring unique spatial forms themed around "The Ship of Guangdong Merchants."
Tianhe Park Station is a three-line interchange station and an important intersection of the Guangzhou Metro network, with Lines 11 and 21 already in operation. Tianhe Park Station on Line 13 Phase II is approximately 280 meters long, 34 meters wide (standard section), and 27 meters deep, with a three-level underground structure. Adopting the theme concept of "Vast Sky, Milky Way and Stars," it creates a metro space that combines artistry and functionality, particularly with its starry sky ceiling design and dotted starlight accents, evoking a vast starry sky atmosphere.
Zhucun Station is approximately 223 meters long, with a standard width of 16.8 meters for the open-cut concourse and 10.2 meters for the cut-and-cover platform. Peng Wei, the chief architect of Phase II of Line 13 of the Guangzhou Metro Design Institute, explained: "Zhucun Station cleverly integrates elements of the Qixi Festival culture. Not only are traditional weaving patterns incorporated into the ceiling design, but the station also features a Qixi Gallery, abstracting the traditional customs of the Qixi Festival into silhouette figures. This strengthens the popularization of traditional culture, allowing more citizens and passengers to understand the Qixi Festival culture through the metro station, a window into civilization." (End)
