Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reported on August 13th that the Weizhou Island Tourism Area Management Committee of Beihai City issued a notice on its official WeChat account regarding the detention of a man on Weizhou Island for threatening the personal safety of others. The notice stated that at 11:17 AM on August 8th, a tourist, Ms. Zhang, reported to the police that she had argued with the driver, Mr. Deng, over the cost of a sightseeing bus, and that he had verbally threatened her personal safety. After receiving the report, the local police station launched an investigation. Currently, Mr. Deng has been administratively detained for seven days and fined by the public security authorities for violating relevant provisions of the "Law of the People's Republic of China on Penalties for Administration of Public Security."
The notice expressed deep regret for the unpleasant experience Ms. Zhang and her group had on Weizhou Island. It stated that this incident reflects shortcomings in the management of tourism order on Weizhou Island and insufficient education and guidance for tourism practitioners. The Beihai Weizhou Island Tourism Area Management Committee will deeply reflect on and comprehensively rectify the situation, and will have "zero tolerance" for any behavior that disrupts market order or infringes on the rights and interests of tourists, resolutely safeguarding the island's image.
