Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of March 19th, a cluster bomb explosion occurred in Seiche District, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia, resulting in one death and one injury. The tragedy is deeply saddening.

According to preliminary investigations by local police, the deceased was identified as 44-year-old Chan Sary, and the injured man as 47-year-old Ta Cha. At the time of the incident, Chan Sary discovered a war-era cluster bomb at Ta Cha's home. Lacking awareness of safety precautions, he threw and struck the bomb while handling it, ultimately triggering a violent explosion.

The explosion killed Chan Sary instantly, while Ta Cha sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. The deceased's body has been handed over to his family by the police, and funeral arrangements will be made according to local customs.

In response to this tragedy, the Cambodian National Mine Action Agency (CMAA) has once again issued a stern warning to the public. It is reported that due to historical factors, unexploded ordnance (UOD) remains scattered in some areas of Cambodia. These items are extremely unstable and pose a very high safety hazard.

Officials have explicitly warned the public that if they discover suspected landmines, cluster bombs, or other unexploded ordnance, they must not touch, move, dismantle, modify, throw, or smash them. Upon discovering suspicious items, the surrounding area should be immediately cordoned off, and the police or local demining personnel should be contacted immediately.

Demining agencies emphasize that UOD remains are extremely dangerous and can cause injury or even death at any time. Raising public awareness of safety precautions is crucial to preventing such tragedies from happening again.
