
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to South China Agricultural University on the 11th, the "China-Latin America Agricultural Education and Technology Innovation Alliance" (hereinafter referred to as the "China-Latin America Alliance") has now formed a thriving ecosystem covering 15 countries and bringing together 78 member institutions, with over 200 inter-university cooperation agreements signed.
It is understood that the China-Latin America Alliance is a non-governmental, non-profit, open, and international multilateral cooperation platform initiated by South China Agricultural University and jointly established by agricultural universities, research institutions, and enterprises from China and Latin American countries on a voluntary basis. It is dedicated to promoting cooperation among members in talent cultivation, scientific research, technology extension, cultural exchange, and policy research, and to fostering mutually beneficial and integrated development in the fields of agricultural education and technology between China and Latin American countries.
Currently, the China-Latin America Alliance comprises two sub-alliances: the China-Brazil Agricultural and Forestry Education and Technology Innovation Alliance and the China-Latin America Soybean Industry Technology Innovation Alliance. It has established four overseas permanent science and technology stations in Colombia, Ecuador, and Cuba; six overseas joint research bases or demonstration parks, including the China-Colombia Rice Joint Research Center, the Brazil Longping Soybean Breeding Base, and the China-Latin America Fruit and Vegetable Production Technology Demonstration Park; a memorandum of understanding was signed with the National University of Colombia to launch the construction of the "China-Latin America International Joint College"; and the world's first "Chinese + Agricultural Science and Education Development Center" was jointly established with the Federal University of Mato Grosso, Brazil, to promote the implementation of high-yield soybean and water-saving drought-resistant rice technologies in Latin America, innovating the "Chinese + Agriculture" talent training model, and has trained over a thousand students to date.
At the recent celebration of the fifth anniversary of the China-Latin America Alliance and the launch ceremony of its 2.0 version, Xue Hongwei, president of South China Agricultural University, stated that facing common challenges such as global food security and climate change, the Alliance will continue to strengthen its integrated development, promote the deep integration of the "education chain, innovation chain, industrial chain, and talent chain," and build a "China-Latin America Alliance science and education flagship"; focus on food security and green sustainable development, and formulate several replicable and scalable "comprehensive solutions"; strengthen standardization and institutionalization, and enhance the Alliance's cohesion and international influence.
