Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reported on November 23 that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security issued a warning regarding the recent online dissemination of false information related to the floods in the central region, particularly AI-generated fake news.

According to the Ministry of Public Security, in addition to a large amount of positive information expressing concern for the disaster victims, some individuals have recently shown a lack of compassion and have instead exploited the disaster to continuously spread false information, especially AI-generated fake news.

Their aim is to distort and attack the efforts of the government and relevant authorities in disaster relief and response; others have fabricated false information such as "thousands of people have died" and "tens of thousands have not received rescue" to attract traffic and profit under the guise of "fundraising." This type of fake news disrupts public opinion, complicates the situation, and causes panic among the people, especially the disaster victims.

This type of false information spreads extremely quickly, directly affecting public perception and creating significant difficulties for on-site authorities in their guidance and management efforts.

The Ministry of Public Security reminds all netizens to remain vigilant when acquiring and sharing information, and resolutely condemns acts such as spreading rumors, using artificial intelligence to fabricate content, causing social panic, and hindering round-the-clock rescue efforts. At the same time, netizens should actively disseminate accurate and reliable information to contribute to helping disaster-stricken people overcome their difficulties.

Regarding the direct or indirect dissemination of false information, the public security forces are simultaneously employing various professional and technical measures to detect, investigate, and verify such acts. Those who share false information due to a lack of awareness will be reminded or dealt with according to regulations. Those who deliberately fabricate and disseminate false information, distort facts, cause serious consequences, or intend to cause damage will be dealt with seriously according to law, and may even be held criminally liable.
