Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – According to Thai media reports, on November 22, a special forces unit in Mae Sot District, Tak Province, Thailand, received a report from the Karen Border Guard in Myanmar while on duty along the Thai-Myanmar border. The unit reported that they had rescued a Thai woman who had been lured into a scam in the Chugalee village area of Myawaddy District, Myanmar.
The rescued woman is 25-year-old Duangduen from Si That District, Chonburi Province. She was lured to Myanmar by a Chinese man she knew, Wang Lu (phonetic), who claimed she could earn a high salary by working for only three days. She crossed the border with him on November 8. However, upon arrival, she discovered that the location was a hideout for an online scam group and immediately sought help from her relatives. Her relatives reported the incident to the police on November 20 and filed a complaint with relevant Thai authorities, which then contacted the Tak Provincial Security Agency. The Thai military coordinated with the Karen Border Guard, ultimately leading to her rescue.
Currently, the Thai military is waiting in the Thai-Myanmar border area to escort Duangduen back to Thailand.
