The smart fast lane at the Gongbei Port in Guangdong has processed over 25 million passengers in the past year.

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) - At 00:00 on November 20, 2024, the first batch of smart fast-track channels in China were launched for trial operation at the Gongbei Port. According to statistics from the Gongbei Immigration Inspection Station, in the year since its launch, the number of inbound and outbound passengers through this channel has exceeded 25 million.

  In recent years, with the continuous growth of shopping, tourism, and visiting friends' needs among residents of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, exchanges in various aspects such as economy, culture, and society have become increasingly frequent. The cross-border travel lifestyle of weekend trips to Zhuhai, tourism to Macao, and shopping in Hong Kong has gradually become a new travel trend. Currently, over 70% of frequent travelers from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao use smart fast-track clearance, with Hong Kong and Macao travelers accounting for over 40%. At the end of June this year, before the peak summer travel season, the Gongbei Immigration Inspection Station upgraded most of its existing fast-track inspection channels, adding 69 smart fast-track clearance devices, basically achieving full coverage of the inspection area and allowing more travelers to experience the convenience brought by this measure.

  In November 2025, the National Immigration Administration launched 10 new measures to extend the "face-scanning" smart clearance model at the Gongbei Port to multiple ports nationwide, allowing the convenience of smart clearance to benefit more regions. Furthermore, in addition to the existing groups eligible for "face-scanning" smart clearance, Taiwanese residents holding a 5-year valid Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents who agree to have their facial and fingerprint information collected for verification during entry and exit border inspections have been added to the list.
