Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), a six-day event, has concluded in Shanghai. On November 11th, reporters learned from the CIIE Transportation Support Command Center that during the expo, a total of 1.4 million passengers were transported in both directions, averaging 233,000 passengers per day, a 5% increase compared to the previous expo. The highest single-day volume reached 326,000 passengers in both directions.

This year's CIIE transportation support focused on the overall goals of "precise support, orderly operation, and reliable safety." From the perspectives of improving user convenience, enhancing facility capacity utilization efficiency, and amplifying the CIIE's traffic spillover effect, various route operation plans were optimized, parking facilities and reservation rules were improved, and technological empowerment of CIIE transportation was strengthened, continuously improving the convenience, intelligence, and refinement of transportation services.

This year's transportation support exhibited four key characteristics. Passenger flow steadily increased. In addition to the total passenger flow exceeding that of the previous expo, the peak day (November 6th) saw 326,000 passengers transported in both directions, the highest level since the third CIIE. Due to the combined influx of professional and general visitors, along with the weekend effect, visitor flow on November 8th increased by 5% compared to the previous day, exhibiting a double-peak pattern with November 6th and 8th.

Travel modes remained highly concentrated. At this year's CIIE, concentrated transportation accounted for 73% of all trips, maintaining a high level. Rail transit remained dominant, accounting for 48%, while chartered buses accounted for 24%.

Parking facilities operated efficiently. Parking at this year's CIIE fully implemented real-time reservations, and the supply of parking spaces for passenger cars nearby increased. The proportion of passenger car travel was the highest ever, effectively meeting the demand for convenient travel. The five drop-off and pick-up parking lots saw a total of 79,000 vehicle visits, a record high. Surrounding temporary parking lots saw a total of 23,000 reserved vehicles, second only to the first CIIE, with a passenger car reservation arrival rate of 58.7%, also a record high.

In addition, Shanghai's transportation sector collaborated with the cultural, tourism, and trade exhibitions to extend transportation services for the Expo, launching four special services: free rides on 11 double-decker sightseeing buses, exclusive discounts on the "highlights" of the Huangpu River cruise, free rides on two Qingpu mini-vacation buses, and free admission to the China Maritime Museum. These services served a total of 3,648 people holding valid Expo credentials, demonstrating the "continuously amplifying" spillover effect of Expo transportation. (End)
