
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) November 5th – The Fangchenggang Maritime Police Bureau in Guangxi reported that it had uncovered two cases of suspected frozen goods smuggling in its jurisdictional waters. Two high-powered speedboats were seized, along with approximately 17.9 tons of frozen goods, with a total value of approximately 2.9 million yuan.
Recently, while patrolling its jurisdictional waters, the bureau's enforcement vessels spotted a suspicious high-powered speedboat traveling at high speed. The vessels approached and ordered the speedboat to stop for inspection, but it refused and sped away. The enforcement vessels, in conjunction with local authorities, immediately pursued the speedboat, eventually forcing it to stop and run aground. The suspect jumped into the sea and escaped.
Investigation revealed that the speedboat was equipped with six high-powered engines, each with 300 horsepower. The cargo hold contained approximately 11.5 tons of frozen goods, including beef heart tubes. No legal documentation or permits for the cargo were found at the scene, and no one claimed any rights to the speedboat or its cargo.
In addition, the bureau also uncovered a suspected smuggling case of frozen goods in its jurisdictional waters on the same day. A speedboat with four high-powered engines mounted on its stern was seized at the scene, containing approximately 6.4 tons of frozen beef offal. No legal documentation was found for the vessel or its cargo.
