Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On October 29, 2025, the Jilin Provincial Public Security Department organized a centralized destruction activity of illegal firearms and explosives in Tonghua City, themed "Eliminating Gun and Explosive Hazards and Jointly Creating a Safe Community." The activity destroyed illegal firearms and explosives seized during the province-wide special campaign against gun and explosives-related crimes since October 2024, as well as those voluntarily surrendered by the public.
In recent years, the Jilin Provincial Public Security Department has continuously organized special campaigns to combat gun and explosives-related crimes, achieving a year-on-year decrease in gun- and explosives-related police reports and criminal cases, with zero occurrences of gun and explosives-related incidents with serious consequences. The number of firearms and explosives in circulation has been significantly reduced, and the incidence of gun-related and explosives-related crimes has decreased by 22%.
Since 2024, Jilin Province has seized 156,000 kilograms of explosives, inspected more than 5,000 businesses dealing in firearms and explosives, and identified and rectified more than 800 safety hazards.
At the event, the Jilin Provincial Public Security Department showcased the achievements of the province-wide campaign to combat and rectify gun and explosives-related crimes through display boards and booths. Following the issuance of the destruction order, various illegal firearms and controlled knives were successively disposed of in the steelmaking furnaces of Tonghua Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd.
A relevant official from the Jilin Provincial Public Security Department stated that public security organs throughout the province will effectively play their role as the main force in combating and rectifying gun and explosives-related crimes, resolutely prevent the resurgence and spread of gun and explosives-related problems, resolutely prevent major and serious gun and explosives-related cases and accidents, and effectively ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
