Cambodian police officer dies heroically in anti-drug operation

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) -- Cambodian anti-narcotics police recently encountered armed drug traffickers violently resisting arrest during a drug bust in Kampong Thom Province, tragically resulting in the death of one officer and the injury of another. Under the decisive command and deployment of National Police Commissioner General Sothon, police quickly launched a pursuit operation, ultimately successfully apprehending the two suspects.

  It is reported that on the day of the incident, Kampong Thom police were conducting an in-depth investigation into a drug case and had arrived at the scene to conduct an arrest. During the operation, two drug traffickers suddenly opened fire, attempting to violently resist law enforcement.

  In the sudden gunfight, Deputy Director of the Narcotics Control Office, Huon Sovay, was tragically shot and heroically killed. Another officer was seriously injured in the exchange of fire. The two armed suspects took advantage of the chaos to seize a police officer's service weapon and then fled the scene on a motorcycle.

  Following the incident, National Police Commissioner General Sothon took the matter seriously and immediately directed police forces to launch a full-scale, relentless pursuit operation. Through sustained police efforts and precise targeting, the two suspects were ultimately apprehended, effectively eliminating a potential threat to public security.

  The case is currently under further investigation. Police will severely punish violent attacks on police officers and drug trafficking in accordance with the law.
