Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Cái Cùng border post in Ca Mau province reported on the afternoon of August 31 that a yacht carrying three foreign crew members experienced mechanical failure while passing through Ca Mau waters and sent a distress signal to border guards.
According to preliminary information, at 9:30 a.m. that day, the Yong Hou border checkpoint of the Cái Cùng border post in Ca Mau province received a report from Chen Mingwang, a resident of Yong Hou township, stating that a yacht in distress was found near the No. 6 wind turbine of the Heping District No. 1 Wind Power Project (approximately 2.5 kilometers from the shore).
The yacht had three foreign crew members on board sending a distress signal. Upon receiving the report, border guards immediately took one of the crew members ashore with Chen Mingwang for record-keeping. This man identified himself as Fracis P. Lonto (44 years old, Filipino national), the yacht's captain. According to Fracis P. Lonto, the yacht departed from Pattaya Marine Marina in Thailand and was en route to Taiwan for sale. The yacht carried only personal belongings and no cargo.
On the morning of the 31st, the yacht became inoperable due to engine failure. The captain had to raise the sails and approach the shore, where Chen Mingwang discovered this and assisted in notifying the relevant authorities.
Currently, the three crew members are receiving care and health monitoring at the Yonghou Border Inspection Station. (End)
