Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – To meet the logistical demands brought about by changes in the global supply chain, Malaysia is planning to build a new container port on the west coast of the Malay Peninsula, across the Strait of Malacca – one of the world's busiest maritime routes.

The new port, valued at US$425 million, will utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to improve operational efficiency, becoming Malaysia's first port to apply AI technology. In early June this year, Midport Holdings, a subsidiary of TANCO Group, signed a memorandum of understanding for the port construction with CCCC Dredging Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company (CCCC).

The AI-powered port will include a quay and a 1.8-kilometer-long container handling area. AI technology is expected to improve port operational efficiency, minimize human error, and reduce accident rates. The AI system will analyze traffic data, schedule ship navigation, monitor maritime activity around the port, and automatically manage logistics.

Andrew Tan Juan Suan, CEO of the Tanco Group, stated that the construction of this port will help Malaysia achieve its goal of establishing a modern and efficient port center, promote economic development in Negeri Sembilan, and strengthen Malaysia's global trading position. (End)
