Malaysia becomes an official partner country of BRICS

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On October 24, Malaysia became one of the 13 new official partners of the BRICS group. The other twelve countries are Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

  Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, speaking in Parliament, affirmed that joining the BRICS group will bring Malaysia numerous trade cooperation opportunities. He emphasized Malaysia's commitment to advancing the Southern Hemisphere agenda, particularly during its ASEAN chairmanship next year. Joining BRICS will also help enhance Malaysia's standing on the international stage, especially in addressing today's pressing global issues.

  By joining BRICS, Malaysia hopes to maintain a neutral policy and unlock new investment and business opportunities. Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan stated that the government remains committed to strengthening trade relations with key partners such as the United States and the European Union (EU), with bilateral trade reaching US$57.59 billion and US$47.57 billion respectively in 2023.
