
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Yesterday, Myanmar successfully repatriated 14 foreign nationals suspected of involvement in telecommunications fraud and other criminal activities in Kayin State via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 2. The repatriated individuals comprised citizens of six countries: four Indians, four Indonesians, three Bangladeshis, and one each from Burundi, Rwanda, and Laos.
To ensure the smooth progress of the repatriation, Myanmar authorities have issued the necessary legal documents to the deportees. It is understood that 1207 individuals are still pending processing, of whom 746 have been prosecuted under Articles 3(1)/13(1) of the Myanmar Immigration (Emergency) Regulations Law and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, while 461 are detained awaiting further repatriation proceedings.
The Myanmar government has clearly stated that it is deepening cooperation with relevant countries, including neighboring countries, to continuously increase its efforts to combat cross-border crimes such as online fraud and online gambling, resolutely curbing the spread of related illegal activities.
