
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Yesterday morning, General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the National Security and Peace Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, received a Thai military delegation led by Lieutenant General Ukris Boonthaunda, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, in Naypyidaw.
The two sides held cordial exchanges on the long-standing good diplomatic relations and friendly cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand and their militaries, reaching a core consensus: to further deepen cooperation between the two militaries in various fields and jointly maintain stability and tranquility in the border areas and the peace and development of the entire region.
During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on several practical cooperation matters, including promoting the convening of a high-level committee meeting between the Myanmar and Thai militaries and deepening cooperation in the field of military training; they also held in-depth consultations on border governance, clarifying that they would strengthen cooperation in combating illegal trade, carrying out anti-drug operations, promoting environmental protection, controlling cross-border haze pollution, and jointly preventing telecommunications fraud.
In addition, both sides exchanged views on their respective domestic political processes. The Myanmar side briefed the attendees on its preparatory efforts for holding a free, fair, clean, and prestigious multi-party democratic election, as well as the current status of the Federal Parliament session. The Thai side also explained the recent progress of its elections and parliamentary sessions, both sides emphasizing these points.
At the end of the meeting, high-ranking military officials from both Myanmar and Thailand exchanged commemorative gifts and took a commemorative group photo with all participants.
The Myanmar delegation included: Lieutenant General Soe Win, Vice Chairman of the National Security and Peace Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services; Lieutenant General Ye Win Oo, Secretary of the Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Army; Lieutenant General Kyaw Soe Lin, Member of the Council and Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Navy, and Air Force; and several senior officers from the Myanmar Defense Services Command. The Thai delegation accompanying General Ukris Boonthanonda included: Lieutenant General Chichano Nujaya, Chief of the Joint Staff of the Royal Thai Armed Forces; senior military officers; the Thai Army Attaché to Myanmar; and accompanying officials.
