To completely eradicate such crimes within Myanmar, the government is coordinating domestic efforts and working closely with neighboring governments to continuously conduct special crackdown operations.
Myanmar's security agencies and administrative bodies, in conjunction with local officials, have launched a concentrated crackdown on illegal business activities and the illegal entry of foreign nationals. They have systematically demolished illegal buildings in the Shwekokko and KK Park (Myawady-Maethawtalay) areas and arrested several illegal foreign nationals involved in online fraud and gambling.
Recently, Myanmar law enforcement conducted a raid near Mya Ta Linh Myo village in Myawaddy Township, arresting 156 foreign nationals suspected of online fraud and gambling activities. Among them were 148 Chinese citizens, 3 Thai citizens, 3 Filipino citizens, 1 Cambodian citizen, and 1 Russian citizen. 110 all-in-one computers, 2,200 mobile phones, and other related items were seized at the scene.
Currently, the suspects are being held at the Myawaddy Ao Ma Police Station in Myawaddy Township. Police have completed the registration of the suspects' identities and related case details.
The seized equipment related to telecommunications fraud and online gambling will be handled according to legal procedures. The arrested foreign nationals will be repatriated to their respective countries after legal verification procedures, adhering to humanitarian principles and respecting bilateral relations.
