
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 9th Myanmar-India Joint Trade Commission Meeting was held yesterday at the Royal Pak Hotel in Naypyidaw. Hosted by Myanmar, the meeting aimed to further deepen bilateral trade cooperation between Myanmar and India, address trade development challenges, and expand cooperation areas.
Myanmar Deputy Minister of Commerce U Min Myint chaired the meeting and delivered the opening address. He pointed out that, according to the Memorandum of Understanding on the Myanmar-India Joint Trade Commission, the two countries have been alternating in hosting the commission meetings since 2003, and such meetings have become an important milestone in strengthening bilateral trade cooperation. U Min Myint stated that this meeting will focus on key issues such as expanding bilateral trade volume, promoting trade facilitation, and improving infrastructure construction. It will also focus on core areas such as agriculture, transportation, energy, information and communication technology, SMEs, and health, further increasing investment cooperation between the two sides. He emphasized that he believes this meeting will effectively consolidate the existing foundation of Myanmar-India cooperation, help both sides find effective ways to solve trade difficulties faced by enterprises, and promote the improvement and efficiency of bilateral cooperation.
It is reported that a preparatory meeting was held prior to the main conference, during which representatives from relevant ministries of Myanmar and India engaged in in-depth consultations, ultimately resulting in meeting minutes, which were jointly confirmed and signed by U Myint Myint, Deputy Minister of Commerce of Myanmar, and Nitin Kumar Yadav, Deputy Director General of the Department of Commerce of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India. Following the preparatory meeting, a luncheon was hosted for the participating delegates to further enhance bilateral communication and mutual trust.
A total of 56 delegates attended the main conference, including the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, and Deputy Directors-General of the Department of Commerce of Myanmar, as well as relevant officials; Abai Thakur, the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar; and members of the Indian delegation led by Nitin Kumar Yadav and other officials. During the conference, both sides reached a consensus to hold the 10th Myanmar-India Joint Trade Commission Meeting in New Delhi, India. (End)
