Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On January 19, the Myanmar Armed Forces fully recaptured the Thabai Chin-Mogok transportation route, previously controlled by the so-called "People's Defense Army" (PDF) insurgent group. Effective immediately, the Mandalay-Tabai Chin-Mogok route is safe and passable, allowing local residents and tourists to travel freely, and regional trade and transportation activities have returned to normal.
It is reported that the PDF insurgent group, linked to the National Union of People's Power (NUG), recruited personnel and conducted insurrection training since June 2024. Under the pretext of "Shan Man Military Operation," they launched an insurrection along the relevant routes, attacking towns, factories, and security outposts, attempting to seize Mandalay. They also planted landmines, destroyed facilities, and took civilians hostage in the controlled areas, severely disrupting local livelihoods and social order.
To quell the insurgency and restore stability, the Myanmar Armed Forces launched a systematic counter-terrorism operation, gradually clearing areas controlled by insurgents. Key areas such as Thabekkin, the area surrounding the Alpha Cement Plant, and the Settagh Dam were recaptured, and the Thabekkin-Mogok transportation route was fully recovered on January 19. During the operation, some Armed Forces personnel were injured or killed, and several PDF members, realizing the true nature of the insurgency, joined the regular army with weapons.
The recapture of this vital route received widespread support and gratitude from the local population, who welcomed the victorious Armed Forces in traditional ways. Currently, regional communications and transportation have been fully restored, and residents' education, healthcare, and livelihoods are gradually returning to normal. The Myanmar Armed Forces stated that they will continue to maintain regional peace and security, promote the reconstruction of roads, schools, and other facilities, and ensure unimpeded trade and public safety.
