
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Myanmar government has made combating telecom fraud, online gambling, and drug manufacturing a national responsibility, actively coordinating with domestic forces and neighboring countries to conduct joint operations to resolutely curb the spread of such crimes within its borders.
In 2025, Myanmar police conducted several special operations: On February 5th, foreign citizens involved in telecom fraud and online gambling were arrested in Mongha area of Mongya Township, northern Shan State, and related tools used in the crimes were seized; on November 27th, a similar case was uncovered near Mongnao in Kesi Township, southern Shan State, with foreign citizens arrested and tools used in the crimes and weapons and ammunition seized; on December 1st, individuals involved in telecom fraud and online gambling were arrested near Dongde Village, Kyaukme Township, northern Shan State, and related items were seized.

On the evening of January 8, 2026, a detachment of the Myanmar Armed Forces, while conducting operations in the Namlan area of Hsipaw Township, northern Shan State, clashed with terrorists entrenched 10 kilometers northwest of Nalin. After the terrorists fled, the Armed Forces seized tents, trenches, landmines, sentry posts, and other supplies. The following afternoon at 1:30 PM, the Armed Forces seized a large quantity of electronic tools used in online gambling and telecom fraud in two buildings in the area, including laptops, desktop computers, mobile phones, and StarLink devices. At 4:45 PM, they seized another batch of electronic equipment, drug-making equipment, methamphetamine, and related chemical raw materials, along with vehicles, generators, excavators, and uniforms and rank insignia bearing the SSA logo.

Subsequently, combining aerial reconnaissance and ground intelligence, the Armed Forces identified three suspicious locations in Mongya Township and launched a raid. On January 10th at 1:30 PM, tents, buildings, and a large quantity of drug-making equipment and raw materials were seized near Manfiyat Village, 26 kilometers southwest of Mengya Town. On January 11th at 7:30 AM, six suspects involved in the SSA group were apprehended 20 kilometers southwest of Mengya, with their uniforms seized, along with 50 drug-making buildings, a large quantity of drug-making equipment, and suspected drug powder. Subsequently, seven more drug-making sites were raided, and gas cylinders, fiber barrels, chemical raw materials, and drug-making equipment were seized. Other related items are still under investigation.
Preliminary testing by a joint expert team indicates that the seized materials and equipment were used to produce heroin and methamphetamine. Currently, the seized materials will be transferred to relevant departments for centralized incineration according to procedures. The investigation is ongoing, and those involved will be severely punished according to law.
