Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Myanmar, China, and Thailand continue to strengthen cross-border cooperation, focusing on combating online fraud, online gambling, and other illegal activities. The focus is on verifying individuals illegally entering Myanmar via the borders of neighboring countries such as Thailand and committing related crimes in Myawaddy-Shwekok, Myawaddy-Mettawale (KK Park), and Chong Kai areas of Kayin State.
To this end, Major General Myo Min Htwe, Second Joint Secretary of the Central Committee for Combating Telecom Fraud and Online Gambling and Deputy Commissioner General (Second) of Police, and U Kham San Lin, Chairman of the Myawaddy Township Administrative Committee and Township Head, along with other officials, jointly received a delegation from both countries led by Liu Zhongyi, Assistant Minister of Public Security of China, and Lieutenant General Jiraporn Bridej, Officer of the Office of the Assistant Commissioner General of Police of Thailand. The delegation's visit aimed to assess the effectiveness of the crackdown, and they were formally received at the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 1.
The inspection tour proceeded smoothly as planned: At 8:00 AM, the three delegations departed from the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 1 and traveled to the KK Park area to inspect the demolition of illegal buildings used for online fraud and gambling. They then returned to Myawaddy. In the afternoon, the delegations visited the Shwe Kok area, inspecting illegal residences of foreigners and demolished buildings related to fraud by the Yatai Company. Upon their return, they arrived at the Myawaddy Border Guard Force's Security and Discipline Enforcement Office to inspect Chinese citizens detained there.
Following the inspection, the three delegations held a joint meeting in the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 2 conference hall. They focused on in-depth discussions regarding the eradication of online fraud (telecom fraud) in the Myawaddy area and the repatriation of suspected fraudsters, clarifying future cooperation directions. After the meeting, the Thai delegation returned from the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge Phase II project.
The Myanmar government has clearly stated that combating online fraud and gambling is a national responsibility and will continue to coordinate local efforts with neighboring governments to promote cross-border cooperation and eradicate related illegal and criminal activities.
