Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Following strong tourist growth during the 2026 New Year holiday, the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday is highly anticipated, promising a peak season for Vietnam's tourism industry and injecting strong momentum into the industry's overall growth throughout the year.

For domestic tourism, Da Lat, Phu Quoc Island, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and Vung Tau are the most searched destinations. Nguyen Cong Hoan, General Manager of Flamingo Redtours, analyzed that the demand for travel during the Lunar New Year remains strong, focusing on two main areas: firstly, destinations combining a strong festive atmosphere, natural scenery, and local culture, such as the Northeast, Northwest, Hanoi, ancient cities, and the Central Highlands in spring, attracting tourists who enjoy in-depth exploration; secondly, coastal or nearby resorts catering to the needs of families seeking togetherness and leisure. Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Deputy General Manager of Saigon Tourism Services Company, stated that the company's Lunar New Year tourism business is highly active, with domestic travel accounting for a significant proportion, mainly concentrated in popular areas such as Hanoi, the Northeast-Northwest, Phu Quoc Island, Nha Trang, Da Nang, and the Central Highlands.

Outbound tourism also performed strongly, with a significant increase in tourists traveling to Southeast Asia due to its shorter flight times, simpler procedures, and reasonable prices. Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei were the core destinations. Bangkok, Singapore, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Bali were the most popular overseas destinations for Vietnamese tourists.

Although prices for Lunar New Year travel products rose slightly due to increased transportation, accommodation, and labor costs during the peak season, the overall tourism market is expected to grow by 15%-20% compared to the same period last year. To accommodate the travel boom, travel agencies launched various promotional activities, and various regions simultaneously held a variety of cultural and entertainment events and special festivals to attract tourists. Railways and airlines increased their capacity, and Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet also launched several new routes to fully meet the travel needs of tourists.

To ensure the orderly operation of the market, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has issued a document to the cultural, sports, and tourism departments of all provinces and cities, requiring them to strengthen the management of tourist destinations during the Lunar New Year period, continuously supervise the quality of tourism services, and coordinate the implementation of various tourist safety measures.
