Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – In the first 10 months of 2025, Hanoi received over 28.22 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of nearly 22%, demonstrating the capital's strong tourism recovery momentum and consolidating its position as one of the region's leading destinations. Hanoi is accelerating the launch of a series of new tourism products, from river tours and metro tours to nighttime and community tourism, shaping a new image for the capital's tourism in the stage of sustainable development and digital transformation.
This information was released by Nguyen Tran Quang, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, at the handover meeting on the core tasks of Hanoi's news work in November 2025, held on the afternoon of November 13 by the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee's Department of Propaganda, Education and Mass Mobilization.
Nguyen Tran Quang revealed that of the more than 28.22 million tourists who arrived in Hanoi in the first 10 months of 2025, 6.17 million were international tourists (an increase of 23.6%) and 22.05 million were domestic tourists (an increase of 21.4%). Total tourism revenue reached VND 108.22 trillion, a year-on-year increase of nearly 20%, demonstrating the capital's tourism industry's efficient recovery and steady growth after the impact of the pandemic and global economic fluctuations.
It is projected that by the end of 2025, Hanoi will receive over 33.7 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 20.87%, accounting for approximately 22.2% of the country's total tourist arrivals, exceeding the initial target by 8.7%. Total tourism revenue for the year is expected to reach VND 134.46 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 21.5%, accounting for 13.7% of the national tourism revenue. The average occupancy rate of accommodation facilities reached 65.5%, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%, reflecting a significant recovery in the high-end hotel, catering, and tourism service markets.
To maintain this growth momentum, the Hanoi Department of Tourism indicated that a series of large-scale promotional programs will be implemented in the last two months of 2025, including the "Hanoi Citizens and Tourists Experience Four- to Five-Star Hotel Services" project, combined with the "Vietnamese People Prioritize Vietnamese Goods" campaign. Meanwhile, Hanoi will also host events such as the "Hanoi Autumn Culture Festival 2025" and the "Hanoi Food, Tourism and Handicraft Village Culture Festival 2025," aiming to attract domestic tourists and promote the capital's image as "safe, friendly, high-quality, and charming."
While increasing tourism promotion efforts, the tourism industry is also accelerating the development of various new tourism models and collaborating with local governments to advance the protection, restoration, and recovery planning of historical sites and scenic spots.
In addition to product development, Hanoi also attaches great importance to attracting large-scale tourism investment projects, striving to complete and put into operation 2-3 new projects by the end of 2025. The industry is also comprehensively promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation, enhancing the tourist experience through technology and digital means.
At the same time, Hanoi continues to expand its cooperation with the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, while strengthening regional and international linkages through Hanoi tourism promotion roadshows held in China, Northeast Asia, and Europe; and organizing international travel agents and media delegations (Famtrip, Presstrip) to conduct on-site inspections and promote the capital's destination brand.
One key initiative for sustainable development is to promote the development of high-quality tourism human resources, particularly in areas such as media, creative industries, and community tourism management. Hanoi is strengthening cooperation between universities, training institutions, and tourism enterprises, and is offering vocational skills, soft skills, and civilized tourism behavior training courses for community residents involved in tourism services.
