Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 26th Thailand Festival Tokyo 2026 was held from May 9th to 10th, 2026, at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo, Japan. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) showcased Thai pop culture and creative tourism experiences, further enhancing Thailand's appeal to Japanese tourists through diverse displays and serving as a warm-up for the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan in 2027.

The opening ceremony was jointly hosted by Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Puangkchok, Japanese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomoaki Shimada, and Thai Ambassador to Japan Vichchuk Wijajiva. As one of the largest overseas cultural festivals for Japan, the Tokyo Thailand Festival is also an important cultural exchange event, attracting over 300,000 visitors annually. This year's festival, themed "Creative Living and Creative Heartbeats," was spearheaded by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on promoting Thai culture, unique products, quality services, tourism resources, and creative industries, deepening cultural and economic ties between Thailand and Japan. Ms. Thapane Kittappur, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), stated that Japan has always been a core source market for Thailand, with the two countries sharing deep cultural ties and a long-standing foundation for tourism cooperation. “Through the 2026 Tokyo Thailand Festival, we hope to present the charm of Thailand in a modern and accessible way – opening up new perspectives for Japanese tourists to explore Thailand through popular culture, creative concepts, and lifestyle experiences,” she emphasized. She stressed that this initiative will not only help the TAT achieve its goal of attracting 1.2 million Japanese tourists by 2026, but will also further solidify Thailand's position as a top global cultural tourism destination.

The TAT booth was personally unveiled by Ms. Thapane, with Mr. Wipawi Rangsimaporn, Minister and Deputy Head of Mission of the Thai Embassy in Tokyo, Mr. Siam Srimonkorn, Minister of Community Development, Dr. Dr. Juttamas Kapijit, Associate Professor and Board Member of the TAT, and other senior executives of the TAT in attendance at the unveiling ceremony. The booth, centered around the theme "Wonderful Thailand: A Thai Pop Culture Experience," focuses on the concept of a "Thai Pop Culture Playground." Designed by renowned Thai illustrator Mean Lee, it uses vivid illustrations and a street-style "alley" layout to showcase Thai culture in a fresh, welcoming, and modern way, precisely targeting young Japanese tourists.

The booth is meticulously divided into five "Soi" themed areas, offering a rich and diverse range of experiences: Soi 1 provides travel information and exclusive activities for airline partners; Soi 2 hosts a JUTATIP Thai weaving workshop, conveying local traditional wisdom and sustainable development concepts; Soi 3, created by TOMATO TWINS, invites visitors to discover "unique Thai charm" through T-POP music, authentic cuisine, creative art, and wellness experiences; Soi 4 recreates Siamese fortune-telling culture in a modern and creative way; and Soi 5, presented by LONGNUAMBOYZ, combines Muay Thai with fashion, street culture, and interactive activities to create an exhilarating experience. Inspired by Thailand's vibrant mobile concert trucks, the main stage features non-stop T-POP music, art performances, and cultural showcases throughout the day, igniting the atmosphere.

In addition to the Tourism Authority of Thailand's exclusive booth, this year's Thailand Festival also features over 170 comprehensive booths, covering Thailand's creative industry achievements, public-private partnership projects, specialty products, local delicacies and fruits, tourism resources, and diverse cultural experiences. The 2026 Thailand Festival is planned to be held in 45 cities across 36 countries worldwide, continuously showcasing Thailand's cultural charm and tourism value to the world.
