2026 Bangkok Songkran Festival: 5 Days of Free Fun and Excitement for the Whole City

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) officially launched the 2026 World Songkran Festival on April 11th at Bunchakitti Park in Bangkok. This five-day annual event, running until April 15th, is centered on "traditional intangible cultural heritage + modern carnival," combining cultural displays, live performances, and water-splashing activities, making it Thailand's largest Songkran festival celebration.

  The opening ceremony was held on April 11th, attended by Mr. Surasak Pancharonworakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Thailand, along with senior representatives from the public and private sectors, who witnessed the grand opening.

  Ms. Thapane Kittappur, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, stated, “The 2026 Songkran World Festival is a nationwide celebration that transcends age, region, and borders. The event deeply integrates the essence of Thai culture with modern celebratory elements, further solidifying its status as a global festival. Since UNESCO inscribed Songkran on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, we have been committed to presenting a festival experience that is ‘rooted in tradition yet modern,’ helping Thailand continue to enhance its influence as a world-class festival destination.”

  On opening night at 6:30 PM, the main stage will feature the Maha Songkran World Parade, with a highlight being Miss World 2025 Opal Suchata Chuangsri portraying this year's Songkran goddess, Nang Raksasdevi, showcasing the charm of Thai culture.

  The event features a special "Five Zones of Songkran Festival" exhibition area (open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM), showcasing the diverse customs and traditions of Thailand through traditional performances, local product sales, and temple market experiences. Traditional rituals such as sand pagoda building and Buddha statue bathing will be presented authentically. The exhibition area includes dedicated activity spaces for seniors and children, ensuring easy participation for visitors of all ages. Over 100 unique stalls will also be available, offering authentic Thai food and handicrafts.

  In terms of the performing arts lineup, the main stage (daily 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM) will feature performances by top Thai artists, including Fool Step, Zani, Zeal, Kratae, Asia7, The Mousses, Lham Somphol, Ink Waruntorn, Monica, Playground, Palmy, Maiyarap, Clockwork Motionless, 4EVE, Bodyslam, Taitosmith, MEYOU, Getsunova, Tilly Birds, and Joey Boy, interspersed with cultural performances and contemporary art exhibitions.

  The water park and EDM stage (daily 16:00-22:00) will focus on trendy revelry, featuring a non-stop electronic music extravaganza from renowned DJs such as 4 TEN, Nutrix, Joy Lila, Jay Schema, Gail Werner, Spacemonkey, 22Bullets, Patcha, Hanky, Dome, Hugo, Brynna, Roxy June, Max, Xillix, and Notxerius.

  Safety is paramount for this event. The Tourist Police Department and other public agencies, in close collaboration with event partners, have implemented measures including a comprehensive on-site support system, optimized intelligent traffic flow, professional guidance personnel, a convenient visitor service center, and 24/7 venue services to ensure a smooth, safe, and enjoyable festival experience for all participants.

  It is understood that admission to the 2026 World Water Festival will be free. The organizers recommend that visitors take public transportation: take the BTS to Asok station or the MRT to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre station. Both stations are within walking distance of Bunchakitti Park.
