More than 2,700 Vietnamese delegates will attend the 2025 UN Vesak Day celebrations.

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the afternoon of April 17th, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Propaganda and Education Department, in conjunction with the City's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, held a press conference to introduce information related to Ho Chi Minh City's socio-economic development. Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Vietnam Buddhist Association, introduced information regarding the 2025 UN Vesak Day. The UN Vesak Day will be held from May 6th to 8th at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy (Binh Chinh District, Ho Chi Minh City). This is the fourth time Vietnam has hosted this important event, and the first time it has been held in Ho Chi Minh City.

  Venerable Thich Duc Thien stated that the 2025 UN Vesak Day, themed "Unity and Inclusivity for Human Qualities: Buddhist Wisdom and Vision for World Peace and Sustainable Development," will feature numerous distinctive cultural, religious, and academic activities. It is expected to attract over 1,200 international delegates from 85 countries and regions, and over 1,500 domestic delegates, with a total attendance of 50,000 to 100,000 people.

  To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, various cultural exchange activities will be held from May 2nd, aiming to promote Vietnam's image of peace, friendship, and unity, while highlighting the Party and State's policy of respecting freedom of religious belief. In particular, the activities will introduce Ho Chi Minh City, vibrant, creative, and actively integrated into the international community 50 years after liberation, to international friends.

  On the afternoon of May 6th, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, a memorial service for heroes and martyrs was held at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy to express gratitude to the fallen heroes and to introduce the traditional spiritual culture of the Vietnamese people and the cultural rituals of Vietnamese Buddhism to international friends. Venerable Thich Duc Thien stated that preparations for the UN Vesak Day celebrations are now largely complete. (End)
