The Governor of Siem Reap Province recently posted on social media, warmly welcoming the return of Angkor Songkran in 2025. He pointed out that Angkor Songkran will become a large-scale national festival, expected to attract over one million tourists.
Furthermore, Sok Sabayna, representative of Hun Many, President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia and Chairman of the Angkor Songkran Organizing Committee, has already gone to the site to prepare for next year's celebrations. This grand event will offer a variety of celebratory activities, attracting more international and local tourists.
Many tour guides in Siem Reap Province expressed their delight at the return of Angkor Songkran, stating that tourists are likely to book their trips quickly upon hearing the news. The Angkor Songkran celebrations have historically attracted large numbers of tourists during the Khmer New Year, offering a rich and diverse array of activities. They are optimistic about the prospects for the 2025 event, hoping it will further boost Cambodia's tourism industry.
The Angkor Songkran New Year celebrations were initiated in 2013 by the Federation of Youth Unions of Cambodia to unite people in celebrating the Khmer New Year, protect national culture, enhance Cambodia's international reputation, and provide domestic and international tourists with opportunities to explore Cambodia's rich and diverse culture, traditions, and religions.
