Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The celebration of World Tourism Day on September 27th, along with the "Soul of Vietnam" folk art performance, was held in Hanoi on the evening of September 26th. The event presented audiences with a variety of distinctive folk art performances, gradually developing a series of cultural tourism products to meet the expectations of domestic and international tourists.
This year's World Tourism Day theme is "Tourism and Peace," aiming to convey the message that tourism can make a significant contribution to promoting peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding among nations and cultures, and supporting the reconciliation process. Furthermore, tourism is closely related to peace-building factors such as social equity, human rights, economic equity, sustainable development, and democratic systems capable of non-violent conflict resolution. Beyond economic benefits, tourism's greatest power lies in bringing people closer together.
With socio-economic development, Vietnam's tourism industry now possesses all the conditions to establish itself as a vital economic sector. According to data recently released by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the Vietnamese tourism industry showed positive signs in the first eight months of 2024. Vietnam received 11.4 million international tourists, a 45.8% increase year-on-year and a 1% increase compared to the same period in 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic). Domestic tourist arrivals reached 89.5 million, generating over VND 586 trillion (equivalent to RMB 178.56 billion). These figures indicate that Vietnam's tourism industry will fully recover in 2024, potentially breaking the records set before the 2019 COVID-19 outbreak.
In 2024, the international situation will undergo many changes, significantly impacting the tourism industry in various countries and globally. Implementing the guidance of the Party and Government, and responding to the appeal of the United Nations Tourism Organization, Vietnamese enterprises will cooperate with state authorities and relevant parties to overcome difficulties and promote tourism as one of Vietnam's pillar economic industries.
