Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Phnom Penh, Cambodia – On February 26th, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, Hua Ha, met with a delegation led by Mark Howarth Archer, representative of the globally renowned travel company G Adventures, in Phnom Penh. The two sides held in-depth discussions on preparations for the 2026 GX Global Travel Operators Summit, ultimately reaching several important consensuses.
During the meeting, G Adventures formally submitted an application to the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, requesting the Cambodian government's support and coordination in hosting the summit in Cambodia. Company representative Mark Howarth Archer clearly stated two core requests: first, that the Ministry of Tourism assist in providing Phnom Penh's iconic Wat Phnom as a dedicated exhibition venue for local specialty products; and second, that the Ministry coordinate and organize a trip for participating delegates to Siem Reap Province to visit Angkor Wat and other World Heritage sites, helping attendees to deeply experience the charm of Cambodia's culture and tourism.
Minister Hua Ha highly praised G Adventures' choice of Cambodia to host this international event, calling it a "wise decision," and formally announced that the Ministry of Tourism, in principle, agreed to and fully supported the company's requests.
In his address, the Minister emphasized that Cambodia is a safe and vibrant tourist destination with enormous potential in tourism services, foreign investment environment, and the ability to host large-scale international events. He pointed out that the 2026 GX Summit is expected to significantly enhance Cambodia's visibility and influence in the mainstream international tourism market, injecting strong momentum into the recovery and growth of the domestic tourism industry.
It is understood that the GX Global Tourism Operators Summit is a major annual event in the global tourism industry, aiming to bring together global tourism practitioners, media, and influential figures to jointly explore sustainable tourism development paths and community empowerment practices. The fact that this summit is being held in Cambodia is both a high recognition of Cambodia's rich tourism resources and favorable development environment and will bring long-term and far-reaching economic benefits to the local community, promoting the deep integration of the tourism industry and community development.
